Currently there are multiple publications about the professionalization of companies, referring in general, to a process of transformation for the improvement and growth of the organization.
This is a process that every entrepreneur, sooner or later, if he wants his organization to grow and sustain itself over time, must go through. But what does that journey look like? When is the right time to make the leap? Is it necessary to have external help or not? What do you have to consider?
First, this process of change generates uncertainty, mainly at the head of the organization. On the one hand, the feeling of loss of control, the trust in the right people to be able to delegate, the detachment of the operation, among others, are some of the questions that can be raised when analyzing this possibility. On the other hand, internally it is recognized that change is imminent, and it is preferable, to proactively generate the transformation process, before the change passes through us.
Many times, we find the need to change, but we do not know how to do it. The main thing, in this instance, is to recognize that the first step must be taken by the management of the organization, in a conscious way, willing to open up, to rethink and review the identity of your business in a different way, from a new perspective. In this sense, we refer to asking ourselves more questions than answers, leaving aside the assumptions, the traditional ways of doing business and operating in the market, disposing ourselves with a fresh, curious, genuine and with a non-judging look.
Secondly, this decision does not necessarily mean making a change of rudder, but a series of strategically evaluated steps, involving a process in which the entire organization is challenged. In this line, it is necessary to clearly establish the objectives to be achieved and their corresponding measurement, define the strategy to be followed, the roles and their scope, the required skills, the appropriate organizational structure, and a management system that orders internal work processes.
Once the decision to make the leap is a fact, the next step is for the entire organization to get involved and accompany this path. The values that are breathed and the valuable experiences that are generated inside and outside the company will be the fundamental pillars that will contribute to the success of the process.
Finally, the appropriate moment to professionalize the company starts from a conscious decision of its direction to move towards a process of integral growth in the aim of maximizing its profitability and the value delivered as the ultimate purpose of its existence.
